Italy’s Ferrari racing team will probably face a hurdle when attending the Grand Prix. Authorities notified all visitors from Italy to be subject to quarantine for 14 days.
The most famous F1 team was forced to suspend all business trips and factory sightseeing activities when it was located more than 110 km from the corona center in Italy. Outbreaking, COVID-19 caused 2,036 people to become ill in Italy, with 52 deaths.
This could become a big obstacle for the Ferrari team to attend the Vietnam Grand Prix, the first Formula 1 race scheduled to take place in April this year. It makes Ferrari harder than rivals.
Farrari is not the only victim. AlphaTauri is an F1 team based in Italy. Boss Franz Tost recently said that the corona virus is a really serious problem for his team. Mr. Tost emphasized that it is not fair for some teams to not participate in the tournament for any reason.
So far, the corona virus has only caused F1 to postpone racing in China. They are scheduled to take place in Shanghai next month. Next weekend, the race to open the season will be held in Australia despite the country has restricted flights from Italy.
Hungary is the only country among 22 host countries to host F1 race without any corona virus infection. Crowding makes F1 races particularly dangerous, especially when the epidemic in many countries is out of control. That’s why Formula One Group stock has lost 21 percent of its value over the past month.
In Bahrain, the organization of the F1 race one week after the opening is still in place. Although there have been 49 cases of corona virus infection recorded in this small country.
The problem does not stop there. F1 documents stated that there must be at least 16 vehicles participating in a race. However, there is another problem. The F1 broadcast license contract states that the cost of the license will be reduced if there are fewer than 15 races in a season if it is not a force majeure event.
In the long time, corona virus can cause problems for Formula One Group. Their contract with 10 racing teams will end later this year and neither side will sign a new deal at the moment.
